Tell Me What You Did Today

Tell me what you did today!

"Ohhhh - I did nothing!"

Nothing?

I painted a picture of red and green

And some funny colour in between.

Today was also the very first time,

My crayon finally followed a very straight line.

I chalked on the board,

And I tied up a cord.

I sorted some blocks,

I played with small rocks.

I went outside to swing and play,

I watched the birds be birds today.

I teetered and tottered,

And slid and climbed.

I ran and I skipped

I rolled, hopped and jumped.

I sat on the sidewalk observing some ants,

Marching in line ‘round the cuff of my pants.

I washed my hands and had a snack,

I played with my truck that I call Mac;

I zoomed him and vroomed him,

Until he went crash.

I heard a story about Henny Penny,

“The sky is falling again and againy”.

Then I played with my train,

I’ll do that tomorrow again.

I learned Sauropods were the biggest dinosaurs,

And that mushrooms come from tiny wee spores.

I learned a new song from beginning to end,

But best of all, I made a new friend.

To a toddler - "Nothing" means so many things!
